About Me

Hello and welcome to my web site. I am a doctoral student at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. I served two terms as an AmeriCorps *VISTA. I studied Social Work at the University of Missouri-Columbia and Psychology and Computer Science at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. I grew up in the town of Cheektowaga.

My research interests are the role of technology in social work, the effects of information communications technologies (ICTs) such as the Internet and email, poverty and class, aging, social informatics, socioeconomic development, public policy, and community practice.

I currently work as a Visiting Lecturer at Salem State College, a research assistant to the Charlestown Connects project, "a coordinated program aimed at improving public safety and social services" in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and a student assistant at the Social Work Library at Boston College. I recently completed work at the Cash & Counseling Project at the Center for the Study of Home and Community Life.

I am currently Board President of the Community Software Lab, a 501c3 that provides free Internet hosting and low-cost custom web-based software development to non profit organizations.

I am an advisory council member of ONEin3 Boston, which serves "to improve the quality-of-life for young people living in the City of Boston." I'll be serving on the Young Families subcommittee.

I serve as Secretary of the Canisius College Boston Alumni Chapter.

I was a chat host at Social Work Chat from 2000-2006. Scheduled chats will be starting again soon!
